I love telling both mine and my clients’ visual stories, weaving narrative into unique, uplifting works of art and design. My drawings, paintings, murals and paste-ups are simple but involved, built up of continuous line, slogans and areas of flat bright colour. I tend to make work about people who inspire me, spreading the wisdom of living life positively and to the full.
Never stop! Never Give Up!
I graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Illustration and Printmaking in 2004. Now I live in Glasgow working freelance as an illustrator, exhibiting and mural artist, curator and educator. I am always looking for new opportunities to create work, travel and collaborate so get in touch if you think we could make beautiful work together!
I’ve exhibited across the UK in solo and group shows and was selected to participate in the Scottish Illustrator Exhibitions in 2005 in Edinburgh and Glasgow. In 2006 I was dubbed as one of ‘Scotland’s top female artists’ by ‘No.1 magazine’ and was featured the following year in a special edition of ‘The List’ produced by the Arches in Glasgow, as one of ‘the best upcoming Scottish artists’.
Illustration clients include - The Skinny, The Big Issue, The List, The Scottish Refugee Council, Amnesty International, Red Bull and soxpopuli.com.
As well as my exhibition and commercial work, I create work on the street as Syrkus, painting murals and pasting up my drawings across the UK and Europe. I lecture at Art Schools and FE Colleges and run community art education workshops. In 2007 I founded Recoat with my partner and we continue to collaborate to curate exhibitions, run mural projects and deliver education programmes.
Please get in touch for commissions, ideas for collaborations, opportunities for exhibitions or residencies.
